A message from our board chairman and CEO
Over the past year, our not-for-profit health system has continued our steadfast commitment to improve the health of our fast-growing community. Ours is a mission of service that began nearly 75 years ago and continues today.
Our team of 2,500 health care professionals leads the way, transforming health and wellness across our region. Together, we are bringing new technologies, new facilities and new services to the Grand Strand, bettering lives and our community as a whole.
One of our most significant advancements is the adoption of the industry-leading Epic electronic patient medical record in March 2024. The Epic platform, implemented as part of our collaboration with MUSC Health, has allowed us to move to a single medical record – providing both patients and care providers seamless access to health care information. We also launched the My Tidelands Health app featuring MyChart – making it easier than ever for patients to connect with health care. These digital tools are truly transforming the delivery of health care in our region.
The care we provide continues to meet or exceed high standards. And forward-thinking partnerships have allowed us to extend our reach beyond the walls of our facilities. Innovative initiatives have taken root to develop gardens and outdoor learning programs at child-care centers to help teach kids to swim and to expand opioid recovery and prevention programs. As our region grows, so does Tidelands Health. Planning continues for the construction of Tidelands Health Carolina Bays Hospital campus, to be located in south Horry County.
Even as we expand, we stay true to our mission of helping people live better lives through better health. In addition to recruiting new physicians and skilled professionals, we work closely with local schools and colleges to develop the next generation of health care professionals to serve our growing region in the years to come. Our health system was again named one of the Top 150 places to work in health care nationwide – a testament to the skill, dedication and expertise of our team members.
These are just a few highlights of another remarkable year for Tidelands Health and the region we serve. We invite you to explore more in our online annual report. Across our health system and throughout our communities, “Better health begins here.”
