Bariatric Surgery at Tidelands Health

Weight-loss surgery, also called bariatric surgery, changes the digestive system and metabolism by decreasing the size of the stomach, how much food is absorbed in the intestinal tract or both. While many people see positive results from weight-loss surgery, patients are required to adopt a lifestyle that supports prioritizing nutrition and exercise, as well as postoperative follow-ups.

Procedures

Tidelands Health offers two types of bariatric surgery. Both procedures are completed using minimally invasive robotic-assisted technology. Using this cutting-edge technology, your surgeon can see details the human eye cannot detect – meaning even greater surgical precision, a smaller incision and faster recovery time. We will work with you to determine which procedure is best for you and your needs.
Gastric bypass surgery

This procedure shrinks your stomach and makes food bypass part of your small intestine, so you feel full sooner during a meal and absorb fewer calories. If you choose this surgery, you may qualify for a minimally invasive approach that reduces pain and speeds your recovery.

Sleeve gastrectomy

This minimally invasive procedure permanently removes part of your stomach to make you feel full after eating small amounts of food.
