Support for You and Your Heart

You’ll recover best with help from a team. That’s why you’ll get care at Tidelands Health from a wide variety of supportive rehabilitation professionals, including:

  • A cardiac care nurse – Specializes in caring for you during and after your heart treatment
  • A dietitian – Advises you on eating well
  • An exercise physiologist – Helps you improve your fitness level
  • A vocational rehabilitation counselor – Assists you in returning to work

You’ll join your peers during your recovery, build friendships and get encouragement. As you regain confidence in your abilities, your outlook on life will improve.

Your Cardiac Rehabilitation Journey

Your cardiac rehabilitation program includes three phases. Each one is available at both Tidelands Waccamaw Community Hospital and Tidelands Georgetown Memorial Hospital, so you can recover at the facility that’s most comfortable and convenient for you.

Phase I

Begin rehabilitation activities while you’re still in the hospital following heart treatment. Your rehabilitation team members will determine how well you can exercise and care for yourself, and they’ll develop a personalized plan to improve your functioning.

Phase II

You’ll spend 12 weeks in Phase II on an outpatient basis. Health care professionals will help you exercise safely and productively, so you can build endurance. You and your family will learn how to eat well, manage stress, avoid tobacco use and commit to other heart-healthy habits.

Phase III

In Phase III, you can participate in guided workout sessions up to three times a week at our Tidelands Health Pawleys Family YMCA or one of our hospitals. You’ll develop exercise habits that will help you maintain lifelong heart health.
