Registered Nurse Apprenticeship Program

The registered nurse apprenticeship program at Tidelands Health is a paid apprenticeship that provides in-depth educational and clinical experiences for student nurses.

Students will engage in hands-on clinical learning, increase confidence by combining education with clinical practice, experience the importance of compassion in health care and become integrated into our Tidelands Health culture.

The registered nurse apprentice will work a maximum of 16 hours per month on a medical/surgical unit, partnering with an experienced RN preceptor.

The program is open to nurses who are in their senior year of a bachelor of science in nursing program or who have completed the first three semesters in an associate of science in nursing program.

Attractive incentives are available for newly licensed program participants who become employed at Tidelands Health as a registered nurse, including a sign-on bonus and education assistance.

For more information, please call Student Program Manager Caitlyn Krask at 843-652-1766.

Shadowing

Job shadowing is a brief educational experience for individuals who have an interest in health care. Through shadowing, you are introduced to a particular job or career path when you are paired with a Tidelands Health employee partner as he or she performs normal work activities. You can observe and ask questions, but you will not perform patient care. For this opportunity, you must be at least 13 years old, and you can request a maximum of 32-40 hours of shadowing time in a 12-month period. If you are interested in participating in the shadowing program at Tidelands Health, please send your request to students@tidelandshealth.org.

Once the request has been approved and program registration completed, these requirements must be met to participate in the shadowing program:

  • Obtain a temporary Tidelands Health ID badge and wear it while onsite
  • Wear the correct attire
  • Act in a professional manner
  • Do not provide patient care at any time

Nursing program at Tidelands Health HGTC Education Center

Aspiring nurses can find a unique educational environment at the Tidelands Health HGTC Education Center on the Tidelands Waccamaw Community Hospital campus in Murrells Inlet.

Students in the HGTC nursing program learn in the innovative 12,000-square-foot center, which simulates a health care environment with hospital patient beds and exam rooms. The HGTC students also complete clinical rotations inside Tidelands Waccamaw.

The Tidelands Health HGTC Center offers a unique educational hub for students in HGTC’s two-year nursing program. Students may qualify for zero tuition through the SC-WINS program, a workforce initiative that allows students entering fields such as nursing to get their education paid through grants.

If you are interested in the HGTC nursing program, please contact HGTC admissions for more information.
