Tidelands Health Rehabilitation Hospital
Many people who experience a life-changing illness and injury need inpatient rehabilitation to help them regain their independence, but there are too few beds to serve our fast-growing region.
That’s why Tidelands Health and Encompass Health are planning Tidelands Health Rehabilitation Hospital at Carolina Bays in south Horry County. This new, 36-bed "hospital within a hospital" would be located within Tidelands Health Carolina Bays Hospital at the interchange of Highways 31 and 707 in the Socastee area.
Tidelands Health Rehabilitation Hospital at Carolina Bays will serve as a vital component of our region’s continuum of health care services by serving patients recovering from a broad range of conditions, including stroke and other neurological disorders, hip fractures, brain injury, spinal cord injury, amputation, complex orthopedic conditions and COVID-19.
The new hospital would be the region’s third inpatient rehabilitation hospital operated by Tidelands Health and Encompass Health, joining Tidelands Health Rehabilitation Hospital at Murrells Inlet, located inside Tidelands Waccamaw Community Hospital, and Tidelands Health Rehabilitation Hospital at Little River.
