An explanation of patient satisfaction ratings and comments

Tidelands Health values the relationships we have with our patients and their loved ones. We are committed to providing you the information you need at your fingertips to make informed decisions about your health care and about the providers who walk the care journey with you. As part of that commitment, we post our medical practice providers’ patient satisfaction ratings and comments online. 

About our survey

Working with NRC Health, a leading patient satisfaction surveying company, Tidelands Health surveys patients about their patient experience. The survey is distributed by email, phone or text to Tidelands Health patients a few days after their appointment at a Tidelands Health medical practice. Patients are asked to rate numerous aspects of their visit, including their provider’s care. We use this feedback to improve and enhance the care we offer.

Our provider ratings are derived from a provider-specific question that asks patients who have visited a Tidelands Health medical practice to rate their provider on a scale from 0-to-10. NRC Health then converts the ratings to a 1-to-5-star scale like most public review websites, with 5 being the highest possible score. 

Patient comments about their visit experience are also displayed on our site. However, patients are not identified to protect confidentiality and privacy. All information that could identify a patient is removed prior to display. 

Please note: Posted ratings and comments are from the previous 12 months.  

What comments do you post?

Tidelands Health is committed to transparency. That means we post all relevant feedback – whether it’s positive or negative. However, we do not post comments that are libelous, profane or risk the privacy of our patients. 

Why don't I see patient ratings and comments for every provider? 

A medical practice provider’s rating will be posted on our site once he or she has a minimum of 30 completed surveys. In addition, we only post ratings and comments for Tidelands Health-employed providers that a patient can visit at a Tidelands Health medical practice. Tidelands Health-employed providers who care for patients as part of a team in the hospital or who provide a service not available at a medical practice will not have ratings and comments posted.

For instance, hospitalists are excluded from ratings and comments. In addition, providers who are not employed by Tidelands Health but are listed on our website as members of our medical staff do not have patient ratings and comments. 

Can anyone complete a survey about a provider?

No. Only patients who visited a Tidelands Health provider at a medical practice will be asked to rate their provider on a scale from 0-to-10. The ratings and comments are based entirely on feedback from patients who have been treated by a Tidelands Health-employed provider at a Tidelands Health medical practice.
