Tidelands Health MUSC Family Medicine Residency Program

The Tidelands Health MUSC Family Medicine Residency Program is a unique combination of family medicine learning in a destination location. In addition to broad spectrum training associated with family medicine, we have curriculum components that focus on training in leadership and building skills for lifelong wellness and resilience. The residency program we have created encompasses the best of both worlds—a high-quality community health system setting with the educational resources of a top academic medical center, allowing residents to learn in multiple settings with a variety of experiences.

Where We Are

The Tidelands Health MUSC Family Medicine Residency program is offered primarily in the Tidelands Health service area. Tidelands Health is located on the Atlantic coast and serves residents in Georgetown, Horry and Williamsburg counties - from Georgetown, South Carolina, to the popular travel destination of Myrtle Beach.

Our sun, fun, water and white sandy beaches attract nearly 20 million visitors each year. And according to the U.S. Census Bureau, this is the second-fastest growing market in the country. It is imperative our health care delivery keep up with our growth, and training family medicine residents here is integral to meeting the need.

Our Philosophy

Lifelong learning, respect for the patient and the continual evolution of quality of care and services provided has always been at the forefront of what we do at Tidelands Health. The Tidelands Health board of trustees, the president and CEO of Tidelands Health, the administration and our faculty and staff are committed to providing high-quality graduate medical education using the financial, educational and personnel resources necessary. We emphasize team-based, inter-professional care and a focus on effective communication to help ensure quality care for our patients.

We affirm our commitment to shaping a culture of teaching and learning that is rooted in respect for all, fostering resilience, excellence, compassion and integrity, allowing us to create patient care and learning environments that are built upon constructive collaboration, mutual respect and human dignity.
