The First Annual Yoga Day, presented by Tidelands Health and Coastal Carolina National Bank at Pelicans Ballpark, has been moved to Saturday, Oct. 3. Times and other details for the event remain the same. The rain date for that event will be Sunday, Oct. 4.

Participants who have already completed the registration do not need to fill out any additional paperwork.

Individuals 12 and up at any level of fitness are invited to participate in the event, which will get underway at 11 a.m. Oct. 3 at Pelicans Ballpark. The outdoor class will be led by Maura Utley, who is a registered Yoga teacher and fitness instructor with more than 30 years’ experience teaching classes. Utley is also Coastal Carolina National Bank’s director of marketing.

Representatives from area Yoga studios will be demonstrating the class and offering modifications to poses to make it easier for participants — even those new to Yoga — to follow along.

Onsite registration will begin at 10 a.m. A $6 donation is suggested to participate in the event, which is cosponsored by Tidelands Health and Coastal Carolina National Bank. All proceeds will benefit the United Way of Horry County.

“Since September is National Yoga Month, this event is a fun way to raise awareness of the benefits of Yoga,” Utley said. “It’s wonderful to see everyone coming together as a community to support the United Way of Horry County and the many programs this organization supports. In many ways, connecting like this is what Yoga is all about."

Participants should bring a mat, a towel and bottled water. All children must be accompanied by an adult. To expedite the registration process, participants are encouraged to download and complete a registration form by visiting one of the following websites: tidelandshealth.org, myccnb.com or unitedwayhcsc.org Registration forms also are available at any Coastal Carolina National Bank location.
