Tidelands Health certified as top place for nurses to excel

Tidelands Health has once again earned recognition as a premier place for nurses to excel, be engaged and feel valued.

The American Nurses Credentialing Center, a division of the American Nurses Association, has redesignated Tidelands Georgetown Memorial Hospital and Tidelands Waccamaw Community Hospital as Pathway to Excellence hospitals.

“Through the many challenges our nursing professionals have faced over the past few years, their dedication to compassionate, high-quality care has never wavered,” said Ashley Capps, vice president of nursing and operations for Tidelands Health. “A supportive, engaged culture of excellence for nurses not only improves team satisfaction but also directly benefits our patients.

“We are so incredibly proud of all our nurses for their engagement, passion for their work and commitment. They are truly making a difference in the lives of our patients, their families and our community every day.”

Throughout the rigorous review process, Tidelands Health demonstrated that it excels in practice standards including leadership accountability, safety of work environment and professional development opportunities, among others.

The review process also included a confidential survey of Tidelands Health nurses. Pathway nurses are engaged, resulting in higher job satisfaction, reduced turnover, improved safety and better patient outcomes.

“What makes this Pathway to Excellence redesignation so special is that the survey of nurses working in Tidelands Health hospitals validated that they feel supported, empowered and valued by our health system,” Capps said. “Our entire team is so proud of this tremendous accomplishment, which is a valuable testament to our nursing culture and the care we provide.”

Tidelands Georgetown and Tidelands Waccamaw are among an elite group of five organizations in South Carolina – and the only ones in the Tidelands region - and just 204 organizations internationally to earn the Pathway to Excellence designation. Tidelands Waccamaw has held the designation since 2014, while Tidelands Georgetown has held it since 2015.

As a Pathway to Excellence-certified organization, Tidelands Health leads the effort to enhance quality of care, patient and nursing safety and the future of health care delivery in the region.
