Tidelands Health implementing industry-leading Epic electronic medical record platform, introducing My Tidelands Health app
Tidelands Health is implementing the industry-leading Epic electronic medical record platform, which will transform the delivery of health care across the region – streamlining access to medical information, improving care coordination for patients and providers and enhancing care delivery.
The $40 million investment in Epic and related technologies will create a single, unified medical record for every patient at the health system, giving care providers and patients access to a comprehensive and consolidated view of a patient’s health record in one convenient place. Epic will replace multiple separate systems previously used by Tidelands Health with a single, state-of-the-art platform.
The conversion to Epic will take place March 2 – the culmination of more than a year’s work to implement the sweeping technology.
A patient’s medical record in Epic can be shared across locations, providers and medical offices inside and outside of the Tidelands Health network, providing efficient and cohesive care for patients.
In addition, patients will have convenient access to their medical record and features such as online appointment scheduling, online bill pay and more via the all-new My Tidelands Health app featuring MyChart, which is available for download now in the App Store and Google Play Store.
“The implementation of Epic is a turning point for our patients, providers, team members and health system,” said Gayle Resetar, executive vice president and chief operating officer for Tidelands Health. “Epic makes the single patient record a reality at Tidelands Health. But this isn’t just installing new technology. It’s using Epic’s leading platform to usher in more efficient processes that leverage the already high-quality care we provide to enhance our patients’ overall experience.”
Because Tidelands Health is the region’s MUSC Health affiliate, the Tidelands Health Epic platform will be integrated with the MUSC Health Epic system. That means patients and providers will have a holistic view of a patient’s care across both organizations.
“This will truly transform the delivery of health care in our region,” said Dr. Phil Dulberger, Tidelands Health executive vice president and chief physician executive. “Throughout the detailed build and implementation process, our physicians and leaders have looked through the lens of our patients as we made key decisions in tailoring the platform to our community’s needs. The result will be an enhanced experience for our patients.”
As part of the transition to Epic, Tidelands Health is introducing the all-new My Tidelands Health app, which is available for download at no cost in the App Store and Google Play Store. Through the free app, users can find a provider, get turn-by-turn directions to Tidelands Health locations, explore helpful health tips and more. And, beginning March 2, Tidelands Health patients will also be able to use the My Tidelands Health app to access the MyChart patient portal, where they can view their medical record, schedule appointments, request prescription refills, message their providers, pay bills and more.
“The My Tidelands Health app featuring MyChart is the new digital front door to Tidelands Health for our patients and community members,” Resetar said. “The My Tidelands Health app works seamlessly with the Epic MyChart platform to help our patients take an active role in managing their health care.”
