Tidelands Health surgical technologist elected to board of statewide association

A Tidelands Health professional with more than three decades of experience has been elected to serve on a statewide association for surgical technologists.

Pam lane head shotPam Lane was elected by her peers to serve a two-year term as a board member for the State Assembly of South Carolina – Association of Surgical Technologists. The association is dedicated to the advancement of surgical technologists through continuing education, legislation and networking opportunities with a focus on quality patient care.

Surgical technologists work alongside surgeons, nurses and other care team members during surgical operations and play a crucial role in helping support a sterile environment.

“I want to promote and improve our profession in our journey toward excellence,” said Lane, a certified surgical technologist. “I value and support the South Carolina Assembly of AST’s mission to promote growth within our field and to work with other health care professionals to enhance and contribute to patient care in the surgical services realm. Throughout my 33-year career, I have always been an advocate for our profession, and I take pride in serving others.”

Lane received training as a certified surgical technologist in the United States Air Force and has worked at Tidelands Health for 22 years. She has repeatedly been recognized as Preceptor of the Year from Horry-Georgetown Technical College for her role in mentoring and assessing surgical technologist students. She serves as an HGTC advisory board member and liaison for the HGTC certified surgical technologist program.

“Through these efforts, I have been able to utilize my knowledge and expertise to enhance the profession, as well as recruit and train new students,” Lane said. “I look forward to having an even greater impact on our profession statewide through my service as a board member for an association dedicated to our field.”
