Tidelands Health team members recognized for their ‘Caring Hearts’

A comforting word. A hand to hold. A positive attitude that lifts others.

Often, the seemingly small gestures can make a big impact on patients.

Tyeishia Cochran, a nursing assistant at Tidelands Georgetown Memorial Hospital, and Brooklynn Garza, an OB technician at Tidelands Waccamaw Community Hospital, earned the awards this year.

Fellow team members say Cochran is an asset to the critical care unit at Tidelands Georgetown, where she is always helpful, energetic and eager to do whatever needs to be done with a positive attitude. Patients gravitate to her positive spirit and appreciate her kindness and support.

“Ty’s willingness to help others shines bright, and she brightens the days of our patients and their families,” co-workers wrote in the nomination. “She exemplifies compassion and empathy to others. A true shining star with a servant’s heart.”

Garza has a knack for comforting patients in the labor and delivery unit at Tidelands Waccamaw. She eases anxieties with her tone of voice, uplifting personality and compassion. Always eager to help, she prepares rooms for patients, collaborates with physicians in the operating room and takes on tasks without being asked.

She continually goes above and beyond and is the epitome of a ‘Caring Heart.’”

Tidelands Health presents Caring Hearts awards annually to recognize outstanding team members who show kindness, a positive attitude and a commitment to help patients, visitors and colleagues. Winners are known as team players who take initiative and execute their roles with a positive attitude, patience and a heart of gold.

“Through their kindness and care, Ty and Brooklynn provide a layer of comfort and security to enhance the lives of our patients,” said Ashley Capps, vice president of operations and chief nursing officer. “Their positive attitude lifts others, and they are dependable team players, always eager to lend a helping hand and offer support. Tidelands Health is proud to have these ‘Caring Hearts’ on our team.”
